2025 LAFAYETTE VISITOR ENTERPRISE FUND for 2026 Newsletter and
Website
The Lafayette Museum was the recipient of a grant funded by the Lafayette Visitor
Enterprise Fund, a program of Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission.
After receiving a generous grant from LCVC, a detailed property assessment was
conducted to recommend measures for proper rehabilitation. Many issues needing
attention have been completed through the generosity and ongoing support of the
Lafayette Visitor Enterprise Fund.
2025 Grant Project: Fireplace Leak Repair Amount Awarded $6,000. Brick fireplaces
are leaking and need to have the siding removed, flashing installed, siding replaced and
the exterior covered with stucco to stop water intrusion into the home. Water intrusion
from this fireplace has caused water damage to both the upstairs and downstairs
ceilings and walls.
Since the grant award, we have discovered more issues involving the possible cause of
leaks and repair of the fireplaces. The museum requested a change of the grant award
to repair the water damage caused by the leaks. The repairs included floating, plaster
and paint. The Larder House was also re-plastered and painted as exposes bricks were
crumbling due to water intrusion.
The commitment of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission to preserving the
Lafayette Museum historic landmark is deeply appreciated by the Board of the Lafayette
Museum Association and by all in Acadiana who value historic preservation.
